French-English translation
Kate Campbell-StoreyMy Commitment:
I consider my contribution to your business as ultra-important and I will provide you with translations that are written in natural flowing English. Being a professional I take translation very seriously. My commitment is total therefore, I am not satisfied with simply translating the words on the page. I understand the importance of good communication and take pride in providing quality work.
Meeting Your Deadlines:
I will always deliver your translation on time. I am highly capable and if rapid translation is required, I will do everything possible to supply this. I have produced some of my best work "under pressure" and the translator is by very nature the last person in the chain. I am also available for any last minute changes. However, it makes economic sense to give the translator the time to do the job.
Confidentiality:
I would emphasise that all my translations are completely confidential and I provide you with a non-disclosure clause on my quotations.
Translation and Language:
Long experience has taught me that several factors play a crucial role in translation, the most important among them being:
Producing high quality grammatical English:
This is the natural flowing English that well-educated native speakers instinctively write, particularly those who have studied language and trained in report writing. For me, this relates to my many years' experience in the art of translation. Not a simple word for word procedure, but a deep understanding and subsequent rewriting of the source language into the native target language, from the simple use of correct typography, to the incorporation of an extensive and well understood terminology. I believe this education must be continuous as language changes daily and not always for the better, something, for which the Internet (or rather its human contributors) is partly responsible.
Correct Terminology and Context:
Some people believe a good bilingual dictionary is all that is necessary for translation. This is not true; translation requires a great deal of knowledge and experience and context is vital to any good translation as there may be several different definitions for a word or phrase depending on subject and sector of activity, etc. Therefore, where necessary, I will ask for glossaries, or additional product or service information.
Editing and proofreading:
I am a professional translator specialised in certain fields and highly qualified in my own specialist subjects and native language. I carry out careful editing and proofreading on all my translations, but I can also supply fully edited translations if required. Back
